    Here's what's included:
    Xtracycle FreeRadical

    Trek 970 Singletrack
frame, size 16.5 medium, lugged 4130 Chrome Moly steel with yet more useful mods (see below).  This frame was chosen specifically for its oversized frame tubes that offer improved torsional stiffness over standard tubing.
    Dimension Threadless Rigid Fork
, 390 mm axle-to-crown, 45 mm rake, uncut steerer, with exceptionally useful mods (see below).  Very close to the original Tange fork dimensionally but is threadless.
    Cane Creek S-3
NEW! 1-1/8" threadless cartridge bearing headset.
    Sturmey Archer XL-FDD
NEW! Front 90 mm DRUM BRAKE 6 Volt, 3 Watt

top deck + four Superhooks, in near-new condition
    Xtracycle V-Racks

    Xtracycle FreeLoader Bags
recently replaced in very good condition. Left bag used lightly, Right bag is unused/brand-new.
    Xtracycle Pannier Rail
upright rail/rack for standard panniers, with mods (see below)
    Custom Running Boards
, made from poplar, light spar varnish coat, never finished.  Includes supports but no hardware.
Front derailleur cable pulley 'Cross' adapter
.  Allows the use of a down-pull front derailleur with the top-pull seat tube mounted cable stop.
I used this Xtracycle and Trek frame for two years, 5000+ miles and decided to rebuild the lot with brand-new parts and useful modifications.  As I have recently moved and now have severe time constraints, I have had to abandon this project.
The Trek 970 frame is a 16.5 Medium and has the following geometry.  Although this is for reference only as these specs are for a standard MTB setup, NOT a longtail setup; however, it will offer some insight on sizing:
head angle: 70.5 deg (with original Tange fork, 385 mm A-to-C)
seat tube angle: 74 deg (with original Tange fork, as above)
    seat tube: 35.1 cm
    top tube (actual): 51.5 cm
    chainstay: 43.0 cm
    BB height: 29.3 cm
    standover: 73.0 cm
With the Xtracycle and the 42-559 tires that I used, the standover height is a bit lower.  I'm short and my inseam is 69 cm and the setup is fine. Top tube is probably long enough to accommodate riders to approx. 5'6", taller if using drop bars because of the long top tube.
Custom runners + supports are included!  These were made from poplar and given a quick spar varnish coating.  You may sand and stain or paint with a finish of your choice.  The supports feature quick-release buttons similar to official Xtracycle accessories.  Hardware to fasten the runners to supports is not provided but is easily sourced.
A Pannier rail/rack (with mods, see below) can replace either left- or right-hand standard V-Rack so you may use standard bicycle panniers for commuting or travel.
    MODS:
very functional, described in detail below... also pictured above.  With two years of commuting on this setup, I've acquired a good sense of what mods actually work
    Xtracycle FreeRadical
: all TIG welding by me unless otherwise noted
    kickstand plate
    - small tab added to reinforce this common failure point.  NOTE - mine never did fail but I've seen other Xtracycle FreeRadical kickstand plates that have.
rear drum brake reaction arm mount point
    - convenient for the Sturmey Archer rear drum brake reaction arm.  Uses a M6 bolt.  No need to faff about with a loose reaction arm clamp when installing or removing the rear wheel!
    V-Rack hitch pins
    - frame and V-Rails drilled to accept stainless hitch pins and R-clips (included) for added security with heavy loads and toolless disassembly.  Much stronger and more secure than the expensive Xtracycle / Surly collars!
    Xtracycle Pannier Rack
: supports are TIG-welded to interface with pannier rear hooks.  Prevents bags from swinging into the chain or rear wheel!  Drilled to work with the V-Rack hitch pins described above.
Trek 970 frame + Dimension fork
: all brazing performed by Richard at Richard's Cyclery, Garden Grove, CA
Top tube - additional bottle braze-ons on underside. Great for a frame pump, accessories or a bottle cage!
Down tube - additional bottle braze-ons on underside.  Great mount point for a steering stabilizer, frame pump, or more bottle cages!
Seat tube - additional set of bottle braze-ons opposite to the standard set.  Great for a frame pump or yet another bottle cage!
Seat tube - cable stop for a top-pull front derailleur.  The original Trek setup uses a hard-to-find adapter for a down-pull front derailleur.  This is much simpler solution!  A cable pulley adapter is furnished for down-pull derailleurs.
Fork - lots of rack braze-ons to accommodate just about any type of front rack.
    Fork -
    drum brake reaction arm stud
.  Richard of Richard's Cyclery modified the Sturmey Archer reaction arm to fit a stud brazed into the LH fork leg... very clean and clever setup!  Wheel slips right in without having to faff about with a separate reaction arm clamp.
Fork - front brake cable braze-on - nice cable management with a zip tie!
WHAT'S LEFT to complete this project?
At minimum, you will require the following.  You also have more latitude in customization...
Prep and paint for Xtracycle, frame and fork.  I recommend a quick sand and primer at minimum to offset rust...
Bottom Bracket (important! ISO/British oversized, 73 mm) + crankset
    Two chains
    Pedals
    Derailleurs
    Cassette
Shift cables, tandem length for rear
Brake cables, tandem length for rear
    Shifters
Brake levers, adjustable pull preferable.  Sturmey Archer drum brakes are spec'ed for short pull (cantilever) but can work with long pull (V-brake) leversas well.
Rims + spokes + nipples + professional wheel build.  Double- or triple-butted spokes with brass nipples are highly recommended!
Threadless 1-1/8 stem + stem spacers
    Handlebar
    Grips or bar tape
    Saddle
    Rim tape
    Tires and tubes
headlight and taillight (generator, 6 volt) for night riding
Many of you considering this kit probably have many of these parts on hand.
The most difficult part is the wheelbuild and I'd ideally like to leave this up to the buyer to offer complete latitude in choice of rims / spokes / nipples.  However, since most enquiries so far concern this, I can do a professional wheelbuild on the provided hubs using Sun-Ringle Rhyno Lite rims on-hand and either Sapim Race double-butted or Sapim Force triple-butted spokes for an upcharge.  Please enquire.
