Description
National Lead Company- Genuine Babbitt- Paperweight Ingot. Circa 1900The National Lead Company was renamed NL Industries in 1971. It can track it’s roots as far back as 1772 in Philadelphia. The company was well known for its white- lead paints sold since 1907 under the Dutch Boy label.
Babbitt, was used on the turn of the century engineered machinery. Genuine Babbitt is a tin based alloy which was designed for high speed applications. The product is still being produced. It is used for pour (cast) in place bearings.
Measurements: item weights 2lbs., 3.5” in diameter, 1” thick.
Condition: Very good. Some scratches on the surface, molding irregularities on back, 1 chip on top edge. See pictures.
